Q: You’ve kind of done everything you need to do in sports but during that quiet moment when you come out of your blocks, do you ever get nervous, or feel anxious?

I never normally get nervous. It’s all about the execution on the 100 metres, so I just have to execute to what I have been working on, the training. I have been doing a lot of work on the start, I just have to execute on the day. (Go to Issue Page to view magazine – edition 24).

A 37 year old former British Paralympic wheelchair athlete. He has won a total of six gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Paralympic Games, and has won the London Marathon seven times.. He will be competing in the 2018 London Marathon, so it could be an eight times winner…

Comment:
Dave Weir admitted he is simply not good enough anymore after failing to defend any of the four track titles he won at London 2012, in Rio 2017. He said, ‘A lot of people put the gold medals around my neck before I got to Rio. I knew that London was special and it was never going to be achieved again.

He has retired from track racing, which was after the 2017 London Marathon and did not compete at the London World Championships in 2017 but he did win the London Marathon for the seventh time, and will be hoping to will again in 2018.
